The Isle of May

23/05/2022
I have always wanted to visit the Isle of May to photograph the seabirds, especially puffins, but I am not a very good boat passenger and the thought of the boat crossing to the island put me off. Finally I decided to take the risk and luckily the hour long journey both ways from Anstruther on the May Princess was very smooth. I spent three hours on the island and saw lots of birds including, razorbills, arctic terns and kittiwakes. However, the stars of the show were without doubt the puffins. They are amazing little birds who have a hard life out at sea before coming ashore each year to breed. NatureScot do a fantastic job taking care of the nature reserve https://www.nature.scot/enjoying-outdoors/scotlands-national-nature-reserves/isle-may-national-nature-reserve
