Radiant and Rugged - That's Rhodes

18/09/2019
I have just spent a week on Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands of Greece. It was famous for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which only actually stood for 54 years before it was destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC. The Medieval Old Town of the City of Rhodes, near where we stayed, has been declared a World Heritage Site and you can easily spend a few days and evenings exploring it. The village of Lindos with its whitewashed winding streets and hilltop acropolis is another great place to visit. If you visit in September you can avoid the hottest weather, though it was very hot most days https://www.visitrhodes.com/
